Cake Serving Guide (The "Party Slice")

A "Party Slice" is typically smaller than a "Generous Slice" you might cut at home. Our calculator assumes standard party servings:

  • Round Cakes: Slices are typically wedge-shaped, about 1.5 to 2 inches wide at the back.
  • Sheet Cakes: Cut into 2" x 2" or 2" x 3" squares. This is the most efficient way to serve large crowds.
  • Tiered Cakes: Usually for weddings, serving sizes are smaller (1" x 2").

Common Cake Sizes & Servings

๐Ÿฐ Round Cakes

  • 6 Inch Round 8-10 servings
  • 8 Inch Round 12-14 servings
  • 9 Inch Round 18-22 servings
  • 10 Inch Round 25-30 servings
  • 12 Inch Round 35-45 servings

๐Ÿ“ Sheet Cakes

  • Quarter Sheet (9x13) 12-20 servings
  • Half Sheet (11x15) 30-48 servings
  • Full Sheet (18x24) 60-96 servings

Pro Tip: The "Outer Ring" Method

For round cakes larger than 10 inches, don't cut simple wedges! Cut a circle in the middle (about 4 inches from the edge), then cut slices from the outer ring. Finally, cut the center core into wedges. This prevents long, floppy slices that fall apart.
