How much candy per person for a buffet?
The golden rule for candy buffets is 0.25 to 0.5 pounds per guest. If you are providing "Favor Bags" for guests to take home, lean towards 0.5 lbs (8 oz) per person. If it's just for snacking during the party, 0.25 lbs (4 oz) is usually sufficient.
The 40-30-20-10 Rule
- 40% Bulk Fillers: Chocolates, Foil-wrapped hearts (Volume)
- 30% Soft/Chewy: Gummy bears, Peach rings (Texture)
- 20% Hard/Decorative: Rock candy, Lollipops (Height/Visuals)
- 10% Salty: Pretzels or Nuts (Palate cleanser)
Jar Selection Tips
- Odd Numbers: Groups of 3 or 5 jars look best.
- Vary Heights: Use risers or boxes under the tablecloth to create levels.
- Wide Mouths: Ensure scoops fit inside the jars easily!
